Civil Duty

The metro in NYC is usually quite reliable and definitely the quickest way to get to the JFK airport. Unfortunately today, the route was stopped one station short and the passengers were on foot. By the time I’d looked over the details of where we were, versus blindly following the mass of bodies moving East, I looked up and I was alone. But alone nowadays isn’t the same, alone with a phone is comforting. The needy traveler is a constant in this city so here we have it, the Golden Rule in CIVILITY alive and well. New Yorkers seem to know their city like no ones business. So I needed help, as getting to the AirTrain on foot through Queens backroads seemed like a risky thing. I asked the gas station merchant for assurance that if I walked this way I’d be able to get to the connecting transit. He answer in great detail exactly how, where, and was joined by another customer who verified these directions. At another point, additional assurance was needed, and there were two people at the parking garage offering detailed directions on how to enter the building. And once more at the elevator, a held door and reassurance that it was the right direction. Sharing information as a civil duty. 1/30/20 CIVILITY

Finding the Golden Rule in action everywhere I go! It’s like time stops and I get to watch amazing scenes play out in front of me. Scenes that embody Kindness, Empathy, Respect, and Civility. Arizona is a Golden Rule State and I’m what you might call a Golden Rule prospector.
